Teresa Agnes in the maze trilogy is probably one of the best character in the book that underappreciated and treated unfairly.
Here is my opinion about Teresa Agnes and let's be real, it doesn't even a romance novel that i dont even want to give a damn about whole Thomas-Teresa or Thomas-Brenda, and if i should say something about the romance part, i just wanna say that Teresa deserved better, period.
As all of you can read on other site, the problem is always lead back to Teresa betrayed Thomas for the sake of protecting his lives, and what is wrong with that?
Let's get to my "Teresa's point of view" that (i hope) will at some point make you think twice on hating her.
Teresa betrayed him for the sake of protecting his life, she do it her own way, that (all of us including me) think that it is too exaggerated in the sake of "betraying him". Imagine you, as Teresa, who is at this point of TST, still didnt have her memories back yet, the girl with only a part of her memories (that she only know that Thomas is her best friend), and think that "WICKED is good" because she did write it on her arm (and don't even know why the hell she wrote that out of everything), and threatened with "betray Thomas or WICKED will kill him", What do you expect to do in your version of Teresa??! My opinion still, although i almost hate her too for this, she couldn't have done it better.
Most of the reader blame her for going to the extend of hitting Thomas and even kissing Aris in front of Thomas, but, most of the reader forget that WICKED analyzed brain-pattern of everyone (and i think she is clever enough to guess it because at some point, her mind get controlled too), not only the brain pattern of Teresa who betrayed him, but also the brain pattern of Thomas who got betrayed. Teresa come in on the maze, i supposed, both as subject and as the variable, the betrayer variable. She did tell him beforehand that something bad will happen and to trust him, and this is where, i think, the unnecessary part of hitting and kissing play the role of betrayal. Do you think after warning Thomas and tell him to trust her, he will fell betrayed without hitting him? NO. Why the kiss necessary? because she kissed Thomas too, and she need to kiss someone else to make it believable to Thomas. Why she didn't tell anyone, go to the extend of the only one hate Thomas and want to kill him even in front of B group? because IT IS BETRAYAL (she know her role), not only for Thomas, but FOR EVERYONE.
She risk everything, and she said it is worth it to risk whatever they had had for the sake of Thomas' life and how can you hate her for it. She asked just for one, to trust her, that no matter what happened, she is on his side. if i want to even compare, Thomas trust Gally back after he killed Chuck (which make him sad for two books), even when he never trusted him before, even he hated him, why he can't just trust Teresa too, who had been her friend since they even lost their memories? ah okay, i know, you guys'd probably say that got betrayed by friends is harder than by enemies. i am so done. but that is not the point, i probably hate that she just have to died 6-7 pages before the ending, like about 15 minutes away from freedom, i expected her to death since book 2 but not like that, no with even a person mourning her, even Thomas haven't forgiven her yet, it is just so unfair. If only Aris is also there with them, he probably save her i think, at least drag her to freedom before her death.. not only Thomas, but most reader hate her too for freaking save Thomas life, like what is wrong with that. I don't mind Thomas hate her, he is there, as a character, that doesn't know her background, and even refuse to remember her, but let's not talk about him, after all, i am just trying to understand Teresa, from my understanding of Teresa's pov.
